Recap by Aideena Wickstrom

Women's Volleyball started their regular season October 25th with a competitive match against the Redeemer Royals.

In the beginning, the Hawks had a rough start as they gave away three points to the Royals through minor errors. They quickly turned this around though, as a serving run by Rossella Falcomer pushed the team to an 11-6 lead. The Royals fought hard to redeem themselves and shorten the deficit. But the Hawks were disciplined in protecting their side of the court, quickly finishing off the set 25-13.

As Alex Krstonosic electrified the court with a kill at the beginning of the second, it was clear that the Hawks had lost no momentum from the first set. Julia Watson and Alex Krstonosic continued to protect their side of the court, placing down kill after kill. This forced the Royals to take a time out at 19-15. After this, Alex Bartman wasted no time with creaming an ace down on the Royals court. Soon, Redeemer called another timeout at 23-16. This did not phase the Hawks as Emma Henney ended the set with a huge kill out of left side. The final score was 25-20.

In the third set, the Hawks came out with an impressive 6-1 lead. With another huge kill out of the middle, Alex Krstonosic had the gymnasium on their feet. There was a steady back and forth between both teams before Humber's Sally Nguyen went on a serving run, causing Redeemer to call a time out at 15-8. As the Royals tried to fight their way back into the game, the Hawks continued to deny them points. With a strong 8 point lead, the Hawks finalized the game at 25-17.

The Hawks had a very successful home opener on the 25th as they were able to wipe out Redeemer in straight sets. Julia Watson and Alex Krstonosic earned 8 and 7 kills respectively and Julia Watson was crowned Player of the Game. Along with this, Kyla Wilkins added 8 digs to her record. This puts her just 18 digs behind second place for most digs in a Humber career.

Julia Watson was selected as the Hawk Nation Player of the Game.

Next we'll see the Hawks travel to Sudbury and play against Cambrian on November 3rd, and Boreal November 4th.
