2020 Humber Varsity Awards: Athletic Director's Pick
ETOBICOKE – Humber’s Athletic Director’s Pick celebrates the efforts of two exceptional student-athletes who best exemplify the characteristics that Humber Varsity is founded on.
These two student-athletes are no strangers to success, combining to capture seven OCAA titles for the Hawks. Pain and fatigue did not prevent these athletes from helping their teams succeed, rising to the moment whenever called upon.
Award Winners
Cody Green – Soccer
Steven Hough – Baseball
Humber Athletic Director and OCAA Hall of Famer Ray Chateau explained why he selected these two student-athletes for this prestigious award:
Cody Green | 2015-20
“Cody always left everything on the pitch. His play was characterized by toughness, competitiveness and the will to win. How he played was on full display in the national semifinal this year, breaking his toe during the first half and continuing to play the remainder of the match and converting a penalty kick to keep Humber’s national hopes alive. A future Hall of Famer, he put the team and winning above his own individual accomplishments.”
Steven Hough | 2016-20
“Steve brought veteran leadership to a young Humber squad. His competitiveness and drive to win were on display every time he toed the rubber. With a 6-0 record in the OCAA Postseason, he always rose to the occasion when called upon – often on extremely short rest. A future Hall of Famer, he was the 2019 Championship MVP pitching on back-to-back masterpieces – allowing only two runs in 11 innings, including a shutout semifinal victory over St. Clair.”
