2020 Humber Varsity Awards: Five Year Athletes
ETOBICOKE – A total of 11 Humber student-athletes have finished their respective careers as Hawks, representing the H for all five seasons of their varsity athletic eligibility. These special athletes dedicated a half-decade of blood, sweat, and tears competing as a Hawk, combining to win three national and 27 provincial titles.
Badminton
Ayubu Touray | 2015-20
2 x CCAA Men’s Doubles Bronze Medal (2019, 2020)
2019 OCAA Men’s Doubles Champion
3 x OCAA Men’s Team Champion
A two-time league all-star, Ayubu competed on the top badminton program in the country for five seasons. The Toronto native captured four OCAA banners during his career and won two national bronze medals with teammate Arpit Taneja.
Baseball
Matt Stoddart | 2015-20
2018 NCBC Champion
2 x OCAA Champion (2018, 2019)
After spending his first two seasons as an infielder with a career batting average of .348, Matt Stoddart transitioned to the mound and became Humber’s all-time leader in career appearances (22).
Stoddart was on the mound for two of the biggest outs in program history, retiring the final hitters against St. Clair in the 2018 NCBC and OCAA Finals.
In January, Stoddart inked his first professional contract, signing a one-year deal with the Türbingen Hawks in Germany.
Basketball
Amber Bechard | 2013-17, 2019-20
2016 CCAA National Champion
3 x OCAA Champion
Amber Bechard played an integral part for Humber basketball during its historic championship run in 2016. Bechard and the Hawks recorded a perfect season, becoming the first OCAA women’s team to capture a national championship.
Known as a defensive specialist, being tasked to defend the best player on the opposition, her gritty approach to the game yielded incredible benefits that resulted in victories on most nights. She was honoured for her play at the 2017 OCAA Championship, as she was selected as a tournament all-star.
Bechard’s signature play may have occurred in her last career regular-season game, hitting the game-winner to clinch the division title for the Hawks.
Curling
Kacie Ransom | 2015-20
2020 CCAA Silver Medal
2 x OCAA Women’s Curling Champion (2017, 2020)
Kacie Ransom concludes her career with Humber curling as a two-time provincial champion. The Sioux Lookout native helped the Hawks make history in 2017, as Humber curling became the first program in league history to win the triple crown. In her final season, she helped the Hawks return to the CCAA podium for the first time in five years.
Rugby Sevens
Cheyenne De Luca | 2015-20
2 x OCAA Champion (2016, 2018)
A three-time league all-star, Cheyenne De Luca became the first player in OCAA history to win the scoring title, twice. In her final season, she shattered the OCAA single-season for tries and concludes her career second all-time in scoring (387), most career tries (74), tries in a season (31), and tries in a match (5).
Christina Branch | 2015-20
2 x OCAA Champion (2016, 2018)
Christina Branch took the league by storm in her first season with Humber in 2015, earning All-Ontario honours in rugby 15’s. In her final season, the Oshawa native became the first player in program history to be named the OCAA Player of the Year. Branch concludes her prestigious career as the OCAA's all-time leading scorer with 537 points. Now a two-time league all-star, Branch owns numerous league records, including most conversions (106), points in a season (180), converts in a season (40), points in a game (30), and converts in a game (6).
In 2016, Branch represented Canada at the World FISU Games in Swansea, Great Britain.
Soccer
Nilda Correia | 2007-11, 2019

2 x OCAA Outdoor Champion (2008, 2010)
2 x OCAA Indoor Champion (2008, 2010)
After a nine-year hiatus, Nilda Correia returned to compete for the Humber Hawks to conclude her five-year career. Correia played during Humber soccer’s most dominant era, as the Hawks captured two national bronze medals in three seasons.
Cody Green | 2015-20

2 x OCAA Indoor Champion (2015, 2017)
Cody Green’s five-year career is best defined by his work ethic and warrior mentality. The Brampton native worked his way into the starting lineup on the top program in the country and was named team captain in his final season. Humber’s 2016 squad may go down as the most dominant team in CCAA history, finishing with a 16-0 record to successfully defend its national title.
Known for playing through multiple injuries, Cody’s signature play occurred in the 2018 CCAA semifinal. Trailing by one with less than a minute remaining, Cody launched a throw-in deep into the box that found the head of Stavros Badunas for the equalizer. The Hawks went on to win in penalty kicks, eventually winning the program’s seventh national title.
Softball
Meaghan Murphy | 2015-20
2019 OCAA Champion
A 2019 league all-star, infielder Meaghan Murphy played 107 regular-season games for the Hawks, concluding her career third all-time in hits (117) and RBI (66), and fourth all-time in runs scored (79).
Myranda Pierson | 2015-20
2019 OCAA Champion
Myranda Pierson dominated the circle for Humber softball for five years, logging over 280 innings in the regular season. The hard-throwing righty concludes her career as the all-time leader in wins (34), innings pitched (282.2), and strikeouts (174). In her final regular-season start, Pierson threw the first perfect game in program history, firing five perfects innings while striking a program-record 12 hitters.
Volleyball
Andrew Blakey | 2015-20
2020 CCAA Silver Medal
2020 OCAA Champion
Two-sport athlete Andrew Blakey joined Humber volleyball in 2016 after two seasons with Humber baseball. The Collingwood native worked his way into Humber’s lineup, becoming one of the top middle blockers in the OCAA.
A two-time league all-star, Blakey helped the Hawks become the top-ranked program in the country, returning Humber volleyball to the national title match for the second time in program history.
Blakey concludes his career eighth all-time on Humber’s career block list.
