The Storyline
Top-ranked Humber men's soccer (10-2-1) will open the CCAA Championship tournament on Nov. 6 against the Champlain Cavaliers. Game time is set for 10 a.m.

Last Time Out
Despite the odds and the stacked schedule, Humber soccer successfully defended its provincial title, defeating Fanshawe, 3-0. The Hawks received goals from Leaford Allen, Alex Baez, and freshman Max Ferrari, while keeper Nicholas Frenati recorded his fourth career OCAA clean sheet.

Nicholas Machado was named the championship MVP and Cody Green and Nicholas Frenati were named to the all-tournament team.

Scouting Champlain

  • The Cavaliers upset Ahuntsic in the RSEQ semifinal before moving on to capture the provincial title in a shootout victory over Montmorency.
  • Champlain is led by RSEQ Player of the Year Jared Leheta and his league-leading eight goals in eight matches.
  • Humber is 2-0 all-time against Champlain at nationals. In their previous meeting, the Cavaliers were the host team and the Hawks cruised to a 6-0 victory in the 2015 quarter-finals.

National Success
Humber soccer is the most successful CCAA program in the country, capturing a national-best seven titles – five since 2012.

The Hawks have won 16 straight CCAA matches – dating back to the 2011 season. Under head coach Michael Aquino, Humber is 12-0 all-time in CCAA postseason action.

Humber is 11-1 (.917) all-time in the quarter-final round and 8-2 (.800) all-time against the RSEQ conference.

Scoring List
Federico Leal enters the tournament tied for fourth in program history with two career CCAA tallies. Nicholas Machado is the only other active player on the Humber team with a CCAA goal.

Athletics Banquet
OCAA Player of the Year Leaford Allen will receive his CCAA All-Canadian award at the athletics banquet on Nov. 5.
