No. 13 Humber men's soccer (7-2-1) will be making its 26th straight provincial championship tournament and will open the quarter-finals against No. 5 Algonquin (8-1) Oct. 23 at Fleming College. Game time is set for 10 a.m.
- The Thunder are led by 2019 scoring champion Malek Belhaj, who finished the regular season with 17 tallies.
- Algonquin's only loss this season came on Oct. 4 against Seneca, 2-1.
- These two teams met two years ago, at Fleming, in the OCAA semifinal. After 120 minutes could not decide a winner, the Thunder won in penalty kicks, 7-6.
Humber is 23-3 all-time in the quarter-final round.
Humber and Algonquin are the two premier soccer programs in the provincial. Combined, the two squads have won 23 OCAA titles.
The Hawks will be missing four players for the opening round due to red cards issued during the crossover match with George Brown.
Humber has finished on the podium for nine straight seasons, including seven provincial titles since 2010.
