Dominant performance by Men's Curling to capture CCAA national crown

REGINA, SK - The Humber men's curling team put on a brilliant performance at the 2026 CCAA national championship, bringing home the program's fourth national gold medal in the men's discipline and the third under head coach Sean Turriff.

Humber entered the playoff round undefeated at 7–0, and for the first time in program history, finished the tournament undefeated. Across nine games, Humber demonstrated elite efficiency, highlighted by outscoring its opponents 64-34, with 11 stolen ends and 18 stolen points. The Hawks also led the tournament with a scoring average of 0.94 points per end.

Semifinal: Humber 8, Sault College 5

In a rematch of the OCAA gold medal match, Humber controlled the tempo early against Sault and never relinquished it. After a measured first end, the Hawks generated separation with multiple-end pressure, capitalizing on their hammer and forcing Sault into difficult angles. Humber converted on three separate multi-point ends, including a pivotal three-ender in the eighth to close out the contest.

The Hawks' disciplined shot selection and weight control limited Sault's scoring opportunities, holding them to mostly singles while avoiding the big end against. Humber's ability to manage the middle ends — blanking when appropriate and forcing when necessary — proved decisive in the 8–5 victory and secured their place in the gold medal game.

Gold Medal: Humber 7, NAIT 2

Facing NAIT Ooks for the national title, Humber delivered one of their most complete performances of the championship. After splitting the early ends, the Hawks seized control with a deuce in the fourth and applied relentless scoreboard pressure from there.

Humber forced NAIT into single coverage on limited opportunities and protected the house effectively with disciplined corner-guard play and timely freezes. A key two-point end in the sixth extended the lead, and from that moment the Hawks managed the game with veteran poise — prioritizing shot rock, peeling guards when necessary, and forcing NAIT to chase. The 7–2 final underscored Humber's defensive structure and championship composure.

This fourth national title further cements Humber's place among the premier programs in Canadian collegiate curling. With championships now spanning a decade — 2016, 2023, 2024, and 2026 — the Hawks continue to define sustained excellence on the national stage.

Jacob Horgan, Noah Garner, Matthew Abrams, and Matthew Moretto were named CCAA All-Tournament First Team All-Stars. For Abrams and Garner, the duo have now claimed three CCAA national titles.
