Grant Repeats as OCAA Player of the Year; Aluyi Earns Sixth Man Honours

TORONTO – Humber men's basketball was recognized among the province's elite on Wednesday afternoon as the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) announced its 2025–26 major award winners and all-star selections, as voted on by conference coaches.

The Hawks were once again prominently featured at the OCAA Men's Basketball Awards, highlighted by multiple major individual honours and all-star nods.

Malik Grant – OCAA Player of the Year

For the second consecutive season, fifth-year small forward Malik Grant was named OCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Year, becoming one of the conference's most dominant and consistent performers. Grant made history as the first player in team history to garner the award twice.

Grant averaged 18.9 points per game while logging 30.6 minutes per contest, serving as Humber's primary offensive option and a constant scoring threat from all three levels. He shot 46.3 per cent from the field and 36.4 per cent from beyond the arc, stretching opposing defences and delivering in key moments throughout the season.

In addition to his provincial honour, Grant was named a first-team all-star and earned Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian status, further cementing his place among the top players in the country. Grant joins Hall of Famers George McNeil (1987 & 1988) and Patrick Rhodd (1990 & 1991) as the only players in team history to earn the award in consecutive seasons.

Adrian Aluyi – West Division Sixth Man of the Year

Fourth-year small forward Adrian Aluyi provided elite production off the bench and was named OCAA West Division Sixth Man of the Year. Aluyi, who played a major role in Humber's 2025 national title, averaged 12.4 points-per-game while finishing second in the conference in shooting 61.7 per cent from the floor, offering efficient scoring and versatility in a key reserve role. His ability to change the tempo and impact games with energy and shot-making was a critical component of Humber's depth.

He was also recognized as a second-team all-star, marking a strong individual campaign in his final season.

West Division All-Rookie Team

Humber's future was also recognized as Amare Anderson earned a spot on the West Division All-Rookie Team, appearing in 16 games for the Hawks and highlighting the continued depth and development within the Hawks' program.

The Hawks will now set their sights on their postseason push, hosting the Durham Lords in the quarter-final round on Feb. 28 at 3 p.m.
