BRAMPTON – Humber men's rugby (5-1, 2nd OCAA) closed out their regular season on a high note with a mind-blowing 88-7 win over the Sheridan Bruins (0-6, 8th OCAA). Second-year standout Joshua Dunbar made eight converts and leads Humber in tries with 16. Rookie Christopher Brown scored four tries in the win.

Game Recap

It was another quick start for Humber, who came out red-hot and worked together to score three tries just 12 minutes into the match. After the conversion by Joshua Dunbar, the Hawks would go up 17-0.

After a reset at midfield, Humber slowly worked its way back into the Bruins' territory. Now about 20 yards away from the goal line, rookie flank Benjamin Petrie received the ball from Dunbar to dive for his first try of the season. After the conversion, the Hawks would go up 31-0.

With 20 minutes remaining, Sheridan looked panicked, knowing they had to muster up some momentum immediately to get themselves in the game.

But it may have been too little too late for the Bruins, as they witnessed Humber increase their lead even more with three more tries. Former Sheridan Bruin and current Humber Hawk Cooper Markou scored the third. He caught the Bruins' defence napping and took the opportunity to sprint down the wide-open field, with no one to see him. The Mississauga native safely placed the rock underneath the posts for his first try of the day. The convert was also deemed good by the referee, giving Humbera a 52-point lead.

With four minutes left in the half, the Hawks added their eighth try and another convert to their total to close out the first half with a massive 59-point lead over Sheridan.

After the break, Humber continued their unstoppable run as they worked quickly to add two more tries and a convert to their total. In less than six minutes, the Hawks increased their lead to 71-0.

The eager Bruins finally held possession after a scrum at midfield to end up deep into Humber's defensive zone. Now 10 yards out from the goal line, Sheridan played it out wide for their first try of the day and added two more after the conversion.

Undeterred by their small gain, the Hawks spent whatever time they had left to power through for three more tries. At the final whistle, Humber snatched the game away from the Bruins with an impressive 88-7 victory.
