Men’s Basketball Stays Hot With Win Over No. 9 St. Clair, 107-89

Men’s Basketball Stays Hot With Win Over No. 9 St. Clair, 107-89

ETOBICOKE — Humber men's basketball picked up their fourth consecutive win, defeating the visiting St. Clair Saints (7-2, 3rd West), 107-89, Sunday afternoon at the North Campus Gym.

Kevin Otoo led the way for the Hawks, finishing with 22 points on nine-of-12 shooting, six rebounds, two assists, and a block.

Humber came out hot to begin the game, shooting five-for-nine from behind the arc, as they put up 25 points in the opening quarter. St. Clair was able to keep pace however as they shot 44.3 percent from the field scoring 22 points in the first.

Jimmy Rich was huge for Humber in the second, as he was a force down in the paint scoring ten of his 14 points in the quarter, finishing a perfect five-for-five from the field. The Hawks still trailed however before Otoo capped off the quarter with a dunk at the buzzer giving Humber a one-point lead at the break.

The Hawks extended their lead in the third, as it was again their offence that was the catalyst. Fowzi Mohamoud caught fire late in the third knocking down consecutive triples before delivering a dime on the Hawks final basket of the quarter. Humber shot an impressive 11-of-21 in the frame, putting up 29 points and went into the fourth leading by six.

The offence would remain on fire in the fourth for Humber, as the Hawks attack would prove to be too much for the Saints to overcome as they reached the century mark for the second straight game, coasting to the win, 107-89.

With his three-pointer in the third quarter, Fowzi Mohamoud became just the second Humber player to eclipse 100 career 3-pointers. He finished the game with 19 points, six rebounds, and two assists.

Game Notes

  • Humber made a season-high 14 3-pointers in the win, finishing at 58.3 percent from deep.
  • The Hawks are now 24-6 all-time against St. Clair at home.
