HAWKS PLAY SUNDAY AT MOHAWK WITH FIRST PLACE IN SIGHT

HAMILTON, Ontario: The Humber Hawks women's softball team, fresh off an exciting night of ball where they swept the first place Durham Lords on the road, will look to extend their record to 8-1 and close in on first place in the division. Humber will head down the QEW towards Hamilton on Sunday to play the Mohawk Mountaineers in a matinee doubleheader. The games, slated for 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, will take place at Mohawk Sports Park.

A revamped Mohawk line-up has helped them break a long 57 game losing streak, and they now currently sit with a mark of 3-5. In fact, three teams have three wins, making the battle for the last play-off spot up for grabs.

Humber, as mentioned above, ran their record to 6-1 with two wins on Thursday night. Although they have not actually played against Seneca due to a rainout, Mohawk is the last of the teams the Hawks have not seen.

The Mountaineers have hit the ball well this year and are led by Becky Rabchuk and her .389 average. Sarah Bell has provided the power, as she leads the league with two home runs. Aimee Leduc looks to be the ace of the Mohawk staff, as she has appeared in seven games thus far.

Hawks Elise Gregoris, just off a monster game where she had five hits, has elevated her average to .400 to lead the team. Veteran Natalie Stoberman is close behind, with a mark of .375. Freshman Myranda Pierson leads the league in both wins (5) and ERA (1.40).
