Lachapelle selected to represent Canada at U21 World Championships
PHUKET, Thailand – Humber women's volleyball libero Alex Lachapelle has been selected to represent Canada at the FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championships in Thailand from December 14-19, 2021.
Led by coach Andrew Kos, Lachapelle and teammate Rachael Meilikhan (Queen's University) will compete for a world championship, beginning with the qualification tournament on December 14. The one-day single-elimination format has nine teams competing for the final four spots in the main draw beginning December 15.
No strangers to the big stage, Lachapelle and Meilikhan captured the U18 Provincial and National titles in 2019.
Lachapelle had a brilliant freshman campaign for the Hawks in 2019-20, earning OCAA All-Academic honours while being named to the All-Rookie squad. The Ajax native is a tremendous defensive specialist, establishing a single-season program record with 262 digs.
The semifinal and medal matches will be streamed live on the Beach Volleyball World YouTube channel.
