About

Marcelo Capozzolo enters his first season as head coach of the Humber women’s soccer program in 2026, becoming the fourth head coach in program history.

Capozzolo was named head coach by Athletic Director Ray Chateau following five seasons as an assistant coach with the Hawks. During his time on staff, Humber compiled an impressive 45-18-10 record (.685), capturing four OCAA podium finishes and winning the program’s first provincial championship in a decade.

A familiar and respected presence within the program, Capozzolo began his coaching tenure under Hall of Fame head coaches Mauro Ongaro/Vince Pileggi (1996–2022) and continued under Jose Caro, playing a key role in one of the most successful stretches in recent team history.

As a student-athlete, Capozzolo enjoyed a decorated career with Humber’s men’s soccer program. Across two stints (2004; 2009–13), he helped lead the Hawks to six provincial championships—three indoor and three outdoor—and a CCAA national title in 2012. A standout defender, he earned numerous individual honours, including CCAA All-Canadian recognition, OCAA Player of the Year, Championship MVP, and Defensive Player of the Year. In 2013, he was named Humber’s Male Athlete of the Year and was later inducted into the Humber Hall of Fame.

In addition to his work at Humber, Capozzolo has been actively involved in player development with Vaughan Soccer Club, where he has coached U17 and U18 I-Model teams and currently leads the U21 and Women’s OSL squads. He holds a CONCACAF B Diploma.
