In avenging the 2014 final loss to the Thunder, the Hawks have secure their fifth OCAA title in the last six years. Both Humber and Algonquin will advance to the 2015 CCAA tournament in Montreal in two weeks time. Humber has won two of the last three national crowns, while Ontario is currently on a three year win streak. The Hawks came out flying like they have all season long, this time with Defender Kingsley Bosiako potting the first one of the game at the 11 minute mark. Just eight minutes later it was Joshua Parades-Proctor who got on the scoresheet, putting the Hawks up 2-0. Parades-Proctor was at it again, showing his All Star form, by scoring a goal via the penalty kick to extend the Hawks lead to 3-0 at the 69 minute mark. With the new OCAA playoff format in place the hosts automatically make the playoffs. This means the Hawks who are this years provincial hosts are automatically in, but it is a matter of them finishing in a top spot for a better matchup. This is the second and last meeting between the two sides this season. The Hawks took the first game by a score of 3-1 at the UTM campus in Mississauga. The Hawks knew the importance of winning this game along with putting the game away early and that’s exactly what they did. The Hawks opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Daniele Clemente who was your eventual man of the match, hammered one home from in close to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. That opened the floodgates, as the Hawks scored at will after the opener. The score at halftime would be 6-0 in favour of Humber thanks to goals from Sonan Askndar, Patrick Majcher, Jaineil Hoilett, Michael Aigbokie and Daniele Clemente added a second with a beautiful left footed strike from 30-yards out. With the game being so lopsided at half, the Hawks opted to make several changes in the second half. The Hawks still didn’t let up as a few newcomers added to the score. Humber striker Luca Baldassarre added his second in two games since joining the Hawks with a powerful left foot strike into the top corner. Midway through the second half UTM found the back of the net ending the shutout for the Hawks. It was Hawks rookie Karman Singh who got the start in goal for the Hawks and didn’t have much to do on the afternoon. When called upon he did the best to his ability whether it was distributing to his players or collecting crosses. The final score in this match would be a lopsided 9-1 victory for the Hawks. Over the past two games, Humber has managed to score 19 goals while only surrendering two. All in all the Hawks took advantage of a weaker team and stayed atop the central division heading into the second leg of the El Classico between the Hawks and the Sheridan Bruins. With just two games remaining the Hawks just need one win to officially clinch first place in the central division. Nothing would be sweeter than a victory over their rivals to clinch top spot. In the two teams last meeting Humber took it by a final score of 1-0. Saturdays kick-off is at 2:00 p.m. at Sheridan’s Oakville campus.
