  • HAWKS ROLL TO EASY THREE-SET WIN ON ROAD AT CONESTOGA

    KITCHENER, ON: It did not take the Humber Hawks women's volleyball team (12-0, 1st West) to take out the home Conestoga Condors (1-11, 10th West) in three straight sets (25-13, 25-16, 25-6). In fact, it was only about a forty-five minute affair. This match was unlike the first meeting of the two teams. Humber did win in three, but it was the Condors that seemed to get stronger as the match went on at the Humber Athletic Centre. Individual statistics are not available at this point. The Hawks will be back on the floor this coming Friday at home, as they will entertain the Mohawk Mountaineers. It was Mohawk who almost ended the Hawks long win streak, but Humber rallied from two sets down to win the match in Hamilton.

  • HAWKS DROP HOST BRUINS IN 3 STRAIGHT SETS TO STAY PERFECT

    OAKVILLE, ON: The Humber Hawks women’s volleyball team ran their regular season record to 6-0 by way of a straight three set win (25-16, 27-25, 25-18) road win over the Sheridan Bruins on Saturday afternoon in Oakville. With the loss, the Bruins drop to 2-3 on the season. This is Sheridan’s third straight loss, after a solid 2-0 start. The Hawks soared early, controlling the set from front to back, extending their lead throughout the set. The second set saw the Bruins command the play and the scoreboard for most of the set, including holding a 21-16 lead late. It was at this point that the Hawks serving became more than the Bruins could handle. A huge 11-4 run led to Humber to the set win. The third and final set was eerily similar to the opener, as the Hawks led from the start and did not let the host squad get close enough to steal the set. Humber will return to the court this coming Wednesday, as they host the Niagara Knights at the Humber Athletic Centre with a first serve set for 6:00 pm.

  • HAWKS COMPLETE IMPROBABLE COMEBACK TO STAY PERFECT

    HAMILTON, ON: It looked like the Hawks streak of 133 straight OCAA regular season and playoff wins was in serious jeopardy on Friday night against the host Mohawk Mountaineers. Humber dropped the first two sets, and after snaring the third, found themselves down 17-9 in the fourth and possibly last set of the match. An incredible run brought them all the way back, and actually winning by a score of 25-22, based on a run of 16-5 to end the set. The fifth was tight over the first few points, but it was Humber held a small lead most of the way. In fact, they held a three point lead into the early teens. Mohawk would not go away and were a single point away from pushing the marathon match into extra points in the final set. The Hawks scored the final point to win the set 15-13 and the match 3-2.
