MISSISSAUGA, ON: On Friday morning, Humber's Ramnish Kumar was selected as the OCAA Player of the Year and an OCAA All-Star, and on Saturday afternoon he showed everyone why this honour was bestowed upon him. He defeated the defending OCAA champion and CCAA National silver medalist 2-0 (21-13, 21-16 Ace Zeng of George Brown to win the OCAA men's singles gold medal.
In the final match of round robin earlier on Saturday, Zeng had eked out a three-set win over Kumar. In the rematch, it was just as close through the first of the match but Kumar pulled away late in both sets to snare the win.
Both players have advanced to the 2019 CCAA National Championships, which are being held by Dalhousie AC in Nova Scotia.
