  • HAWKS ROWE CAPTURES U23 NATIONAL MIXED DOUBLES TITLE

    ETOBICOKE, ON: Humber's freshman badminton sensation Chloe Rowe, who just recently swept both OCAA Provincial and CCAA National titles in women's badminton, continued her winning ways by winning the Badminton U23 National Mixed title in Moncton last weekend. Rowe and her partner B.R. Sankreeth, who entered the event as the second seed, went on to defeat the pairing of Jonathan Lai and Giselle Chan in the final. After losing the first set in the event to open the gold medal match by a score of 21-16, they went on to win the next two by dominating marks of 21-13 and 21-11.

    ETOBICOKE, ON: As the most decorated male badminton player in Humber history, Adam Dong continued his nationwide dominance on the court this season. Partnered with Ryan Chow, the duo became the first CCAA partners to win back-to-back national titles in almost a decade. After winning the national championship in mixed doubles in 2015, Dong now has three consecutive titles and has yet to drop a match during his prestigious Humber career.

  • HAWKS OPEN OCAA REGIONALS ON FRIDAY AT CONESTOGA

    TORONTO - Student-athletes from across the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) are serving for real this Friday and Saturday as they bid for a spot at the 2017 OCAA Badminton Championships presented by belairdirect. Participants will compete in one of five events, including men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. The top three singles players and doubles teams from each discipline will advance to provincials. Collège Boréal in Sudbury, Ont., will play host to the east regionals, and include student-athletes from Boréal, Centennial College, George Brown College, Georgian College, St. Lawrence College (Brockville) and Seneca College. Conestoga College plays host to the west regionals, and includes student-athletes from Conestoga, Fanshawe College, Humber College, Mohawk College, Redeemer University College, St. Clair College and the University of Toronto Mississauga. The OCAA Badminton Championships will take place Feb. 17-18 at Georgian College in Barrie, Ont.
